Week 4

Here are the first iterations of my lighting passes I did over the weekend. I had to leave out the new model because we haven’t gotten it rigged yet.

I finally got the new model fully shaded in Houdini. I had to do some cleanup with hot geo is named in Maya but it was definitely worth the time and effort given how quick it was to get it shaded. Here is a quick first iteration of some LookDev for the car.

Mentor Notes:

  • Is the lightning in just one shot?

  • Might make more sense to show lightning in more shots.

  • Overall idea is good and fun.

  • The flags look good timing wise.

  • Camera wise maybe extend the shot more.

  • End shot pose the car towards us, make it more heroic.

  • Lightning flow needs work the way it moves. Singular direction.

  • Metal rod with electricity moving along (reference search)

  • Plasma ball reference.

  • Connect shot 01 and 02 a little better with lighting or framing.

  • For look dev. focus on scale of the materials.

  • Shot 03 the environment is not clear and objects are not recognizable right now.

  • Keep focus on the car and experiment with lighting.

  • Map the pictures in the frames a bit better.

  • Depth of field for the shots with set dressing.

  • The silver will stand out from the environment.

  • In terms of set dressing & look dev:

    • aspect ratio, camera lens difference, scratch maps, dust on table.

  • The scale can progress through the shots.

  • Try to include the design details in the previs.

  • Connecting or making sense of the environment in all the shots.
